The Department of States American Institute of Taiwan facility is approximately 175,000 SF, cast in place concrete construction consisting of a 5-story structure, a parking garage, and a 2-story residential building. The building has a combination of built-up roofing and zinc metal roofing.

The new compound covers more than twice the space of the current 2.6 hectares AIT compound in Da'an, whose lease is set to end in July 2018. It is likely that the move to the Neihu site will be completed before then.  AIT NOC's security was to house a detachment of U.S. Marines in the compound.
